It has been a long and nerve wracking wait for many, with their last comeback happening all the way back in December 2021 with the release of Return of the Girl and its title track “Pirate”.

Between now and then, there have been rumors that the group would end up disbanding rather than release new music together, especially with Yiren taking an extended hiatus to go back to her home country of China. Thankfully, though, that doesn’t seem to be the case, and their new single album, All My Girls, is set to release on August 18 with the title track “SLAY”.

The 1975 were asked to pay £2 million in damages for allegedly breaching the terms of the contract during a controversial show in Malaysia.

Last month, the British band's performance at the Good Vibes Festival in Kuala Lumpur was cut short when frontman Matt Healy kissed bassist Ross MacDonald while criticizing the country's anti-LGBT+ law, which makes homosexual acts illegal.

The Malaysian government called the band "extremely abusive", adding that they would not be allowed to perform in the country again. Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the government had "summoned the organizers" of the festival, which was then outright cancelled.

19:39 Instagram is adding music to photo carousels

The new music in carousels feature was officially launched on Thursday night by singer Olivia Rodrigo, who used it to promote her new single "bad idea right?" from her upcoming album Guts. Users are now able to select songs to play alongside their photo carousels, letting you use the power of music to signal that the tale of your dropped ice cream cone is very tragic, actually.

If Instagram's music in carousels feature looks a bit familiar, that's probably because of TikTok. The video-sharing app has allowed users to add music to photo carousels since it first introduced slideshow mode in September last year.

At the time, it looked as though TikTok's photo feature was taking a page out of Instagram's book — a rare instance of the former emulating the latter instead of vice versa. Now it seems as though Instagram has been inspired by TikTok's adaptation of features the photo-sharing app actually had first.

Music in carousels isn't the only new feature Instagram is introducing today. Multiple collaborators can also now work together on one post or reel, with users able to invite up to three other people to contribute. The post or reel will then be displayed across all the contributor's accounts, shown to all of their audiences and sharing consolidated likes, views, and comments.

Instagram has further updated Reels' Add Yours prompt feature, allowing the original poster to keep feeding our parasocial relationships by pinning up to 10 responses to their post. Other users will be able to see these pinned responses by tapping on the Add Yours sticker, letting the world know that your favourite celeb actually watched your video and putting you on track to becoming a Big Name Fan.

the latest episode of America's Got Talent, Sofía Vergara, one of the judges, did a fun stunt by hitting her Golden Buzzer for Gabriel Henrique, a talented Brazilian singer. Gabriel's stunning rendition of the Whitney Houston classic, "Run to You," left everyone in awe.

Before ringing the bell, Sofía, who is 51 years old, paused and praised Gabriel's performance, calling it flawless and spectacular. He praised her beautiful voice, "I have no words. It was so perfect, spectacular. Your voice is beautiful

Gabriel, 27, started his audition by revealing that it was his first time in the United States, and he was thrilled to be fulfilling his dream of performing there. Since he was not fluent in English, he had an interpreter accompany him on stage.

"I can't believe it! This is my first time here in the United States and I just fulfilled my dream to be here, singing for you here," Gabriel said through his English translator.

The judges were blown away by Gabriel's strong performance, and all four, including Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel, showered him with praise.

Heidi matched her vocals to the perfect mix of Whitney Houston. She said, "If Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey have a baby, it's Gabriel! I mean, wow. You're amazing!"

Howie, too, was taken aback by the depth and unexpected flair in Gabriel's voice, comparing her to the best pop divas. Simon echoed the sentiment and predicted, "People are going to really like you... I know you sing in church and you have no idea how good you are. It's amazing."

British pop-rock group The 1975’s recent onstage outburst which led to the cancellation of a music festival in Malaysia is just the latest in a string of incidents that have marred concerts all over the world in recent months.

Frontman Matty Healy’s tirade against the Malaysian government’s LGBTQ laws and policies, and subsequent same-sex kiss with bandmate Ross MacDonald at the Good Vibes Festival in Kuala Lumpur on July 21, was roundly slammed as performative activism.

And it is not just the stars who are behaving badly. Fans, and sometimes concert promoters, have also been taken to task for putting a downer on what was supposed to be an enjoyable experience.

When eagle-eyed American country singer Miranda Lambert spotted fans taking a group photo while she was singing at her Las Vegas show on July 15, she stopped her performance to lash out at them.

In a TikTok video that has since gone viral, she is heard saying: “I’m gonna stop right here for a (second). These girls are worried about a selfie and not listening to the song, and it’s pissing me off a little bit.”

While some in the audience can be heard cheering, other fans walked out in protest. In the video, one fan can be heard saying: “Let’s go. C’mon. You don’t do that to fans.”

Bebe Rexha, Ava Max and Kelsea Ballerini get hit

American singer Bebe Rexha had to be rushed to the hospital after a man threw a phone at her during her New York concert in June. She was struck in the face near her eye, and her injuries required stitches. A 27-year-old man from New Jersey was arrested and charged with assault.

In Los Angeles that same month, fellow American pop singer Ava Max was slapped by a member of the audience who rushed onstage. She continued dancing as the offender was dragged away by security.

She later tweeted: “He slapped me so hard that he scratched the inside of my eye. He’s never coming to a show again.”

In another incident in June, this time in Idaho, American country singer Kelsea Ballerini had to leave the stage after a fan threw a bracelet at her.

Ballerini later wrote on Instagram: “It hit me in the eye, and it more so just scared me than hurt me.”

She added that she walked offstage to calm down and ensure that the band, crew and crowd “all felt safe to continue”.

05:16 Ministry Explains Govt Efforts to Address Declining Logistics Performances

acting deputy of macroeconomics and finance at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economic Affairs, explained the government's efforts in the logistics sector. This is as a response to the World Bank's report on the drop in Indonesia's Logistics Performance Index (LPI) in 2023 which dropped 17 places to 63rd position from the previous 46th position.

One of the government's efforts, Ferry said, is making efficiencies in logistics costs by strengthening inter-regional connectivity with infrastructure development.

"Various government policies to strengthen regional connectivity have also been pursued as an effort to reduce price disparities between regions," he said when contacted on Friday, July 21.

The government also has connectivity policies that support inflation control, which are included in the 4K key strategy—classified in the category of smooth distribution. These include, among others, the development of the National Logistic Ecosystem (NLE); as well as the construction of roads and bridges including the issuance of Presidential Instruction no. 3/2023 on the Acceleration of Increasing Regional Road Connectivity.

The government is also making airport improvements; rail line upgrades; and optimization of sea highways and air bridges.

"Regional connectivity is improved to reduce price disparities between provinces," Ferry said, adding that good connectivity is expected to support the national economy, especially through the main logistics route, as well as increasing the accessibility of disadvantaged, frontier and outermost (3T) regions.

Efforts to achieve an adequate logistics system still require supporting work including encouraging digitization, in order to "support the smooth running of logistics which is currently not fully supported by adequate human resources."

According to Ferry, the decline in the LPS value from Bank Indonesia was affected by supply chain disruptions that occurred during and after the pandemic, which caused the shipping process at ports to become inefficient.

"Another factor is global geopolitical tension which had gone high, hampering international trade transactions," he said.

The World Bank's measurements were carried out in 139 countries. LPI 2023 data places Singapore in first place with a score of 4.3, followed by Finland (4.2), Denmark (4.1), and Germany (4.1). In 2018, Germany ranked first with a score of 4.2, while Singapore ranked 7th with a score of 4.0.

04:55 New art exhibition opens in Tokyo

There is new hope for the contemporary art scene in Japan—or at least that's the narrative surrounding Tokyo Gendai, an art exhibition that held its premiere earlier this month.

International art exhibitions were able to turn 20,000 square meters of exhibition space at the Pacifico Yokohama convention center into temporary bonded areas, thanks to the recent revision of Japan's tax law regarding the import, storage and sale of art coming into Japan. In other words, galleries and collectors participating in exhibitions are exempt from paying the usual 10% import tax for bringing works of art into the country - a long-term problem for the Japanese art scene that has not been hindered by other Asian art markets.

Tokyo Gendai isn't the first in Japan to take advantage of tax breaks. Last September, Art Fair Asia Fukuoka laid claim to the country's first bonded area, albeit on a much smaller scale than Tokyo Gendai. The Terrada Warehouse in Shinagawa opened a bonded gallery area the same month, following the establishment of a permanent bonded storage facility in early 2022. Haneda Airport has been hosting a bonded area for exhibitions and auctions since 2021.

Japan already has a long-running art exhibition, Art Fair Tokyo, but due to Tokyo Gendai's focus on being an international contemporary art exhibition, its point of reference is not the annual event that takes place at the Tokyo International Forum — once hosted as “mediocre market” by Blum & Poe gallery Ashley Rawlings — but its predecessor, the Nippon International Contemporary Art Exhibition

NICAF lasted only four years, from 1992 to 1995, when disappointing sales caused international galleries to back down and the fair to downsize to a more comfortable village party atmosphere. At that time it was also intended to make Tokyo a global arts center. The Mori Art Museum was even more focused on making Japan's capital the go-to destination for the international contemporary art crowd when it opened in 2003. Its ambition to be "world-class" was streamlined to focus on Asia after its British director David Elliot left in 2006. In a press conference at the time, incoming director Fumio Nanjo justified this axis by saying that the museum no longer needed to justify itself in relation to "the West". At the same time, he says he wants to "catch the wave" of Nicolas Bourriaud's relational aesthetic, in which the French curator proposes that in considering art, the process of audience interactivity is more valuable than excessive concern for the artist's intentions. However, Bourriaud's ideas were already eight years old at the time, and have been vigorously challenged in subsequent criticism.

Optimism surrounding Tokyo Gendai, as expressed in the media coverage of the event at outlets such as Artsy and the Art Newspaper and through the organizers themselves, hinges on the fact that once you enter the exhibition, for tax purposes, you are, as fellow visitors to preview night warned, “not in Japan right now.” Director Eri Takane described the high point of organizing the event as going to the customs office to collect the bonded zone certificate signed with Tokyo Gendai co-founder Magnus Renfrew. "It's historic," he told The Japan Times.
